Young Round Square of the Americas: I.D.E.A.L.S.

Young Round Square of the Americas seek to capture the unique enthusiasm and power of the Junior level student and to provide opportunities which will help develop students into the leaders of tomorrow. The I.D.E.A.L.S. of Round Square provide the foundation upon which this development begins.

This acronym represents six pillars around which Round Square schools function. The IDEALS of Round Square are:

I - International Understanding – The most powerful force in the promotion of international understanding is exposure to different cultures.

D - Democracy – Education in the value of and the active participation in democracy is essential in Round Square schools.

E - Environment – Students are taught the fine balance and the interdependence required to maintain a healthy relationship between man and nature.

A - Adventure – Students are trained in the appreciation of physical health and moral fortitude through the challenges of adventure and outdoor pursuits.

L - Leadership – Students are taught that true leadership is found in those whose convictions are rooted in personal responsibility, kindness and justice.

S - Service - Round Square prepares students for life by challenging them to experience challenge and to serve others.

The common goal of Young Round Square of the Americas is to develop every student into a whole person through, academic, physical, cultural and spiritual experiences.

Member schools of Young Round Square of the Americas make every effort to model their curriculum and school community values to incorporate the IDEALS of Round Square and still maintain the unique characteristics of their school.
