The 5th Annual Conference 2009: The Power Within

November 15th, 2008

Dear YRSA Coordinators,

Appleby College and Fern Hill School are thrilled to be co-hosting the Young Round Square of the Americas 2009 Conference. Conference activities will take place at three campuses located in Oakville and Burlington, Ontario; two beautiful communities situated on the shores of Lake Ontario and just west of the vibrant city of Toronto.

The theme of the fifth annual YRSA conference is “The Power Within,” and it will be held from Sunday, April 26 to Friday, May 1, 2009. The theme draws its inspiration from Kurt Hahn’s belief that: “There is more in you than you think,” and will challenge the delegates to examine the Round Square IDEALS and the impact they can have on affecting change.

A two-day pre-conference is available primarily for schools travelling a long distance which will include tours of Toronto and the Niagara region. These schools will have the first priority to register. Please indicate on your registration form if you would like to attend the pre-conference.

Over the next few months you will receive further communication inviting YRSA schools to register two delegates and a chaperone to attend the conference. Our 2009 Conference Committee is also hard at work arranging speakers and events, including an incredible two-day outdoor camp experience and an urban adventure race in downtown Toronto.

We welcome you to join us in April to experience an urban conference that will embrace both the city and the natural outdoors as we challenge students from throughout the Americas to funnel their energy to bring about new ideas and to ignite their passion and power within.

Yours sincerely,
Joanne McLean Guy McLean
