The 5th Annual Conference 2009: The Power Within

Welcome to the Young Round Square of the Americas website for the 2009 conference. On this site, you will find all the information you will need for this conference.

Appleby College and Fern Hill School are thrilled to be hosting the conference this year. Join us from Sunday, April 26th to Friday, May 1st, 2009 as we explore the theme, The Power Within. With our schools located in both Oakville and Burlington, and with close proximity to Toronto, this conference will embrace the pillars of Round Square in the urban setting.

We begin our conference at Appleby College in Oakville (30 minutes from Toronto International Airport) on Sunday, April 26th. Delegations need to arrive between 1pm and 4:00pm. We will provide bus transportation from the Airport to Appleby College. Registration will begin at 1pm and the programme will commence at 4pm. Host families will join us for dinner after Opening Ceremonies. The students will be billeted with a family for Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday nights and will be at camp for Monday and Tuesday night.

The next morning we will be travelling by bus to Onondaga Farms in St. George, Ontario. We will return to Oakville on Wednesday morning with a stop at Fern Hill - Burlington. On Thursday we will travel into Toronto for an urban adventure. Friday we will close the conference at Fern Hill - Oakville. We will provide transportation to the airport. Please book your flights no earlier than 2pm on the closing day of the conference.

Each YRSA school may invite two delegates (ideally one boy and one girl) and a chaperone to attend the conference. These delegates may be in 7th or 8th grade or within the 13-14 year-old age range. The YRSA Conference host for 2010, may bring two adults to the conference. The cost of the conference will be $550 CDN per delegate and per chaperone.

Chaperones have the option of staying at a hotel instead of being billeted with parents. There will be an additional cost to each chaperone of $90 per night. Please make your own hotel arrangements at the Monte Carlo Inn – Oakville if you wish not to be billeted. Transportation to and from the hotel each day will be provided.

There will be a pre-conference (April 23rd-26th) available for the International RS schools that are joining us at the conference. This option is on a first come basis as space is limited.
